USDA grains stocks/hogs preview
USDA will issue its Sept.1 Grain Stocks report at 7:30 a.m. CDT Friday, and then release the Quarterly Hogs and Pigs report at 2:00 p.m. that day.
John Hawkins
Published: Sep 27, 2012
Grain Stocks:
Analysts and traders expect this Friday's USDA quarterly grain stocks data to show wheat stocks at 2.28 bln bu vs. 2.14 bln a year ago, while soybean stocks are expected at 131 mln bu. well below last year's 215 mln bu.
September 1 corn stockpiles are expected to be 1.11 bln bu. compared to the 1.128 bln bu last year at this time.
Hogs and Pigs:
Many analysts feel the report is unlikely to show much hog herd liquidation – at least not yet. Trade estimates for the all hogs and pigs number average 100.7% of year ago; breeding at 99.7% and market hogs at 100.8%.
