Day 2 results from the Pro Farmer Crop Tour found relatively better conditions in Indiana and Nebraska than Day 1 results. However, overall results still show crops much smaller than the three-year averages for both states.
Indiana's corn yield was estimated at 113.2 bushels per acre and an average soybean pod count of 1033. Both numbers were below the long-term average for the state.
Nebraska's corn yield was pegged at 131.8 bushels per acre and a soybean pod count of 894 -- also well below long-term averages.
On Wednesday, the eastern leg of the crop tour will leave Bloomington, IL and will survey the remainder of Illinois. The western tour will enter Iowa.
Crop scouts on the Illinois leg of the journey expect to see improvements in soybeans due to recent rains. "Most soybean fields will likely yield between 35 to 70+ bu/A (in a few instances)," said DuPont Pioneer agronomist Jeff Wessel.
