Published: Oct 31, 2012
Harvest was once again slowed as scattered showers and strong winds made their way across the state this past week allowing only 3.7 days suitable for fieldwork.
Corn harvest slowly progressed along to 94 percent complete statewide, this compares to 86 percent last year and 69 percent for the 5-year average. Soybean harvest increased to 87 percent compared to 91 percent last year and 80 percent for the five year average.
The winter wheat crop is ahead of the 5-year average with 81 percent planted and 49 percent emerged.
In other crops, sorghum harvest is now 86 percent complete. Pasture conditions were rated at 10 percent very poor, 11 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.
