CME Group raises grains and soybean margins

The recent rally in grain prices has prompted the exchange to raise futures margins, effective at 2 p.m. this afternoon.

The CME Group has raised its minimum margins on corn, wheat, and soybeans at the close of business this afternoon.

Corn:  Hedge margins will increase from $1,750 per contract to $2,000.  Mini-contracts will rise from
$350 to $400.

Wheat:  Hedge margins will increase from $2,250 per contract to $2,750.  Mini-contracts will rise from $450 to $550.

Soybeans:  Hedge margins will increase from $2,500 to $3,000 per contract.  Mini-contracts will rise from $500 to $600.
