Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) is acquiring a port terminal in northern Brazil to enhance its export capability out of the country.

The company also reported profits fell 25% in the fourth quarter, due in part to lower export volumes as grain supplies in the U.S. dwindled.

ADM, based in Decatur, Ill., expects ethanol margins to turn positive in the current quarter, Chief Operating Officer Juan Luciano said. The company's ethanol business suffered a $61 million loss in the quarter, versus a $172 million profit a year ago.
